After a year of waiting–moving day has finally come. We began packing the truck today with some of the large things and we’ll load numerous boxes tomorrow and early Saturday morning. I need some Advil.
Our trip will take us from Charlotte to Indianapolis on Saturday where we’ll spend the evening. We’ll get up on Sunday morning and complete the trip into Chicago proper. We’ve decided to go with a moving company to assist with the unloading of the truck in Chicago, but we’re doing all the driving and loading on the Charlotte end. That’s probably not a bad trade off. Chance of rain tomorrow afternoon when we’re loading the boxes–50%. Go figure.
The rental truck is just a sixteen foot Penske, but it will take some getting used to on the interstate I’m sure. The guy who rented us the truck (he was about 70 and had no interest in using his computer system to process the order) informed us that we’ll have to stop at each open “weigh station” on the way. I’ll have to do some digging to see if that’s the case–I mean, what exactly does one do at a “weigh station” anyway?
